For those looking for my Grand Tour for MS-Windows, it is no longer available. However, if you have any iOS devices checkout  Distant Suns 3 for the iPad and iPhone, which has much of the original Grand Tour code.

Both products are still off of the appstore, until I can get access to the live cloud data. The terms of the service that supplied the full-earth cloud images has changed, as well as the servers, so I need to get those cleared up. And that will come only when I am done with a book I am writing on OpenGL ES. “Sleep deprived” is my middle name.

Distant Suns and Grand Tour before it have made use of “cloud servers” over the past many years to layer current weather patterns on the model of the earth. Unfortunately, the cloud service is no longer providing imagery for free, as only paid subscribers may obtain the imagery. For the time being this will be switched off in in the various products that make use of it until I can determine if there’s a way to support the new subscription based...

Grand Tour-3D has been temporarily removed from sale pending some design issues that have cropped up. I hope to have it back up shortly.

Grand Tour 1.3 was released to the Appstore today. Apple’s either hired 822 more reviewers or greased the skids some other way, but I submitted the update on Saturday. For only 2 days. Some guys are reporting having their apps approved within the day. Grand Tour 1.3 includes some new texturemaps, for Mercury, Iapetus, Mimas and one other weird little moon I don’t remember.
